Certified Ratings

Department of Energy Certified Ratings

As of July 5, 2011, all manufacturers of covered consumer products (including central air conditioners and central heat pumps) are responsible for certifying their products annually to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by means of a compliance statement and certification report.

A manufacturer may choose to certify products directly to DOE (as in the case of National Comfort Products), or it can authorize a third-party representative (such as AHRI) to forward the manufacturer’s certifications to DOE on its behalf.

DOE requires that the manufacturer bear sole responsibility for the submission and accuracy of its certifications, not the third party representative. These certified ratings are maintained as a searchable database on the official DOE Website.
